Just yards away from the ancient market place and Bishop’s Palace, the hotel is well positioned for discovering Somerset’s history and beauty spots. During the reign of Edward VI (1547 - 1553), the hotel was an armed keep, and after a period of confiscation it was handed back to the Church by Mary Tudor (1553 - 1558).
